Air (Vayu), Fire (Agni), Ether (Akash), Water (Jal), and Earth (Prithvi) are the five elements. These elements keep on changing and interacting.
They are further simplified into three Vitiations (Doshas). When these Vitiations remain under the proper balance, the health of the body also remains good. But when these Doshas become imbalance & disturbed, the body starts getting diseases.
The three Vitiations are Batta (Vayu), Pitta (Bile), and Kapha (Phlegm). Personality is determined by the predominance of any one Dosha. You can say is a person is of ‘ Vata-Prakriti’, ‘Pitta- Prakriti’ or ‘Kapha Prakriti’.
